Blue Star highway Marker ~ A Blue Star Highway Marker is located at the Lake Park. The Marker was refurbished and rededicated on June 10, 2017 so that it now faces Lee street. It is part of the '' Let Freedom Ring Memorial Garden''
Let Freedom Ring Memorial Garden
In June of 2006 the Des Plaines Park District and Garden Club installed the Memorial Garden at Lake Park. As part of the this project the Blue Star Marker was moved to the front of the garden for better visibility. The Garden Club of Des Plaines IL redesigned the planting pad and a bench was installed honoring the Des Plaines Garden Club's 75th anniversary
In 2015
Memorial Day Services ~ Each year the officers and members participate in the Des Plaines Memorial Day Service held at Lake Park. Honoring the history of Memorial Day, a wreath is presented by our Garden Club honoring those members of the military who lost their life in service of their country.
September 17th, 18th & 19th
Des Plaines Fall Fest, was held September 17th, 18th & 19th
On Sunday Club Members volunteer to assist the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce to host some kid fun, “Cherrios Bird Feeders” for the kids.
The kids enjoyed making these simple bird feeders out of Cheerios strung on a pipe cleaner, that can be hung in a tree or in a bush.
